Gamification
Gamification techniques embedded in Motrain and Mootivated include:
- Providing rewards that learners can earn and use to buy items in a virtual store.
- Using leaderboards to promote friendly competition by pitting learners against other learners or sections against sections. If learners see who has more rewards, that could motivate them to participate more, gain more knowledge, and improve upon their learning to earn even more rewards.
- Rewarding progress as learners finish up activities and courses.
If privacy is a concern, administrators can keep learners/sections anonymous on the leaderboard. While each learner/section will know where they stand, others will be listed anonymously.
Rewards
When learners complete an activity or course, they earn rewards that can then be exchanged for items in the virtual store.
Rewards can be personalized to sections. Administrators can create an unlimited number of sections using audiences/cohorts.
Store
Motrain/Mootivated encourages learners to earn rewards by progressing through learning activities in the LMS. These rewards can then be redeemed in the virtual store. Store items can be customized by the company or institution to provide incentives that have value to the specific learner population.
The organization or institution can provide individually valued real-world items such as lunch with the Principal, gift card to a local coffee shop, an extra vacation day. or bonus recess time.
The virtual store allows learners to purchase individual items, buy chances in a virtual raffle, or bid on auction items.
