Setting User Time Zone

User Time Zone Settings

Time zones on a normal web server may have a minimal impact to the end user; however, in an LMS, changes in the time zone settings can have a major impact on course activities. If a teacher sets an activity in a course to open at a specific time, the server will automatically use the teacher’s time zone preference to set the time on the activity. The site will then adjust the time displayed to each user based on their selected time zone.

For this reason, it is extremely important that the location settings within an individual user's Profile be accurate, to ensure the proper time display. Explaining the importance of accurate time zone settings to users and providing them with step-by-step instructions for updating their profiles will help ensure they have a positive online experience.
